Our Story

Our Strategy and Performance

The Foxtel Group's strategy is to build a streaming-led growth company through a portfolio of distinctive entertainment brands that allow us to reach every Australian.

From our beginnings in 1996 as Australia’s original Pay-TV innovator, we have transformed our business over the past four years to become a technology-led streaming company. The three pillars of our strategy are:

  1. We are growing rapidly in streaming.
As at December 31, 2021, the Kayo, BINGE and Foxtel Now streaming services had 2.29 million total subscribers, up 66% in the past year. We will continue to create opportunities for growth through new streaming brands and our position at the heart of the home.

  2. We are strengthening Foxtel.
Foxtel has been repositioned as a premium service base and has moved strongly into streaming with all in one place access to the world’s best streaming apps. This is supported by product innovation with the new iQ5, our first plug and play streaming set top box and voice control remote.

  3. We are transforming our foundations based on world-class technology and content.
Our Group-wide functions cover technology and operations, entertainment and sports content, advertising sales and marketing. Our transformation is seeing the Foxtel Group emerge as a more efficient, lower-cost company increasingly enabled by the new, state of the art IP systems. We are the local partner of choice for direct content providers and for the world’s best apps based on established, long-term relationships and our position as the largest Australian-based subscription television company.
