It’s NRL champion v NRL champion when big-time boxing returns to Main Event tonight, with NRL legend Paul Gallen (16 wins / 2 losses / 1 draw) squaring off with Nelson ‘Big Nasty’ Asofa-Solomona (3 wins / 0 losses) in a prize-fight for the ages at Sydney’s TikTok Entertainment Centre.

Supporting this blockbuster night of boxing will be an all-Aussie super lightweight showdown between undefeated prodigy Ahmad Reda (9 wins / 0 losses) and impressive Queenslander Jack Wylie (19 wins / 2 losses, 1 draw), while Callum Peters (9 wins / 0 losses) will look to continue his climb up the middleweight rankings when he squares off with Colombian Juan Diego Ortiz (11 wins / 1 loss).

Rounding out the pay-per-view card is “Sweet P” Paulo Aokuso in a (12 wins / 0 losses) light-heavyweight clash against undefeated Austrian Mobin Khahrazeh (16 wins / 0 losses).

Main Event on Kayo SPORTS and FOXTEL will give fans around the country a front-row seat to this must-see extravaganza with live and exclusive prelims coverage from 5:30pm AEDT before the Pay-Per-View continues from 7:00pm AEDT.

An all-star lineup of Fox Sports talent will call the action from ringside headlined by former super middleweight world champion Danny Green, Fox League’s Mick Ennis and Dan Ginnane plus the voice of Australian boxing, Ben Damon.

Tim Tszyu and freshly minted world champion Sam Goodman will provide expert analysis throughout the coverage.

The Courier Mail’s Peter Badel will provide breaking news as it happens, and Bloke in a Bar’s Denan Kemp will add his insights throughout the night.

With only a few hours now until the bell rings for Round One, all eyes will be on 45-year-old Paul Gallen as he looks to add another big scalp to his professional boxing resume in his last fight.

The Premiership and Origin series winning captain has already claimed impressive victories over former UFC star Mark Hunt, AFL legend Barry Hall and most recently fellow NRL and Rugby Union convert Sonny Bill Williams.

Gallen has built his reputation on fighting the big names and tonight he will be looking to end another former NRL player’s career when he squares off with New Zealand 6’7 giant and fellow premiership winning player Nelson Asofa-Solomona.

“Nelson has said some pretty personal things in the lead up to this fight and I’m ready to knock his head off,” Gallen said.

“I understand it’s all part of the promotion, but he crossed the line and he’ll know about it when we get into that ring later tonight.”

For ‘Big Nasty’ Asofa-Solomona, tonight presents an opportunity for the 30-year-old to cement his status as the next boxing crossover star.

Following impressive wins over Jeremy Latimore, Jarrod Wallace and George Burgess, Asofa-Solomona looks set for his toughest test to date against an experienced warrior in Paul Gallen.

“I respect what Paul Gallen has done in this sport, but his time is done and tonight I’ll end his career for good,” Asofa-Solomona said.

“He is tough and works hard but Gallen has never fought anyone with my size or with my power.

“I think he’s underestimated me and he’s going to regret it,” Asofa-Solomona said.

No Limit Boxing CEO George Rose is delighted to bring together two of the biggest names in Australian sport for a superfight years in the making.

“These guys were fierce rivals on the football field and that is certain to carry over into the boxing ring at TikTok Entertainment Centre tonight,” Rose said.

“It’s a case of the old bull versus the new bull. I don’t know which way it will go but I can guarantee there will be plenty of fireworks!

“While there has been a lot of noise about Gallen v Nelson, I’m equally excited to see some of the most exciting prospects in Australian boxing return tonight.

“Ahmad Reda and Jack Wylie are ready for war while Callum Peters and Paulo Akuso will both have to be at their best to keep their undefeated records intact.

“It’s going to be a huge night of boxing, and I encourage everyone to get in early and buy the fights now on Main Event and Kayo SPORTS,” Rose said.
