BINGE today announced the commission of a new original series, the next chapter of the internationally acclaimed and award-winning drama Wentworth, unveiled during the 2026 AACTA Awards.
Wentworth, a Fremantle production that premiered in 2013, reimagined the iconic series Prisoner and became a defining moment in Australian television, a ground-breaking and globally celebrated drama that that has been screened in over 170 territories worldwide and set a new standard for female-led storytelling. The next chapter will continue that legacy, taking the story beyond the prison walls and into a new world of redemption and survival.
Revealed during a special Spotlight Moment at the star-studded ceremony, and presented by Danielle Cormack, known for her iconic role as Bea Smith, the tribute celebrated the extraordinary legacy of Wentworth. It revisited some of the series’ most powerful moments while offering a subtle tease of what’s to come, setting the stage for one of the most anticipated new chapters in Australian television.
The announcement marks the return of one of Australia’s most iconic and longest-running drama franchises for a new era. The BINGE original series will feature characters and draw elements from Wentworth, while forging its own narrative. This time, the journey continues beyond the prison walls, into the unpredictable reality of life on parole.
