Fox League Marks Indigenous Round with Xavier Savage Documentary and "Our Greats" Rooftop Video

Fox League is celebrating the NRL and NRLW’s 2026 Indigenous Round with the release of two special projects, a Fox Sports original documentary and music video for ARIA Award-winning band 3%.

Kulpiyam: The Xavier Savage Story, will premiere on Fox League and Kayo Sports tonight and follows the journey of Canberra Raiders flyer Xavier Savage as he experiences the highs and lows of life as an NRL athlete. Savage, a Torres Strait Islander of the Birri Gubba and Gungganyji people, was raised alongside his three siblings by his single mother in Cairns, before he was scouted by the Canberra Raiders and made his first-grade debut in 2021.

“I hope it inspires not only indigenous people but everyone to embrace who they are, where they come from and to also dream big,” Savage said of the documentary.

“Shooting it was a great experience, and I can’t wait to be able to show it to my future kids.”

In addition to the documentary, Fox League has teamed up with multi-award-winning Indigenous group 3% to create a new music video for their 2025 hit ‘Our Greats’, which was released last month and celebrates First Nation sporting icons. The song lyrics feature Cathy Freeman, Ash Barty, Patty Mills and Lionel Rose.

The video was shot on the roof of Allianz Stadium and features the hip-hop group, made up of Angus Field, Corey Webster aka “Nooky” and Dallas Woods, alongside indigenous kids, rugby league superstars Latrell Mitchell, Josh Addo-Carr and Mahalia Murphy with a special appearance by Fox League’s Matt Nable.

The song and video will premiere tomorrow, Thursday, August 7, and feature in Fox League’s coverage throughout rounds 23 and 24.

3% lead vocalist, Corey Webster, said: “What ‘Our Greats’ is about is the representation of black excellence spoken through the kids, assisted by 3%. We made this song with kids from the WE ARE WARRIORS program down on the South Coast, they wanted to make a song paying homage to some of their role models.

“For me, it’s a tribute to the ones who lit the way for us, the ones who not only carried the torch but the weight, so we could all stand proud. It’s about honouring the legends who come from our communities and reflecting on mad achievements while moving forward.”

Fox Sports Head of Creative, Charlie Lambert, said: “We are very fortunate to work with so many talented players and artists. Indigenous Round on Fox League is a celebration of culture and movement.
“The video for ‘Our Greats’ and the Xavier Savage documentary are our way of honouring some of the most exciting athletes in our great country.”

This year marks the first time ever that Indigenous Round will be played across two rounds in both the NRL and NRLW Telstra Premiership competitions kicking off from 7 August, live and ad-break free during play on Fox League, available on Kayo Sports.
