FOXTEL has once again established its place as home to the world’s best drama and entertainment content, as the 74th Emmy® Awards nominations were announced overnight honouring an incredible line-up of shows available to watch in Australia on FOXTEL On Demand and via the suite of integrated apps.
The nomination ceremony, held for the third year as a live virtual event, recognised a host of ground-breaking new programs and rising stars, along with much-loved talent and hit series, with FOXTEL content accounting for over 139 Emmy nominations this year and including acting nods for Australian’s Sarah Snook (Succession), Toni Collette (The Staircase) and Murray Bartlett (The White Lotus).
FOXTEL viewers are now able to enjoy more than 290 Emmy nominated moments all in one place thanks to the integration of Netflix, Amazon Prime, SBS and ABC iView apps on iQ3, iQ4 and iQ5 set top boxes.
Succession has been recognised as the most nominated series at this year’s Awards, taking a total of 25 Emmy nominations. The critically acclaimed drama series set in New York and centred around the Roy family and their family-controlled media conglomerate, included nods for Outstanding Drama Series, Lead Actor for Brian Cox and Jeremy Strong and Outstanding Supporting Actress in a Drama Series for Australia’s Sarah Snook. Production has commenced in New York on Season 4 of Succession and Seasons 1-3 are available to watch On Demand on FOXTEL.
Satire comedy The White Lotus received 20 nominations, including Outstanding Limited or Anthology Series and an acting nod for Australian’s own Murray Bartlett receiving a nomination for Outstanding Supporting Actor in a Limited or Anthology Series or Movie for his role as fastidious resort manager Armond. Jennifer Collidge received her first Emmy nod for Outstanding Supporting Actress in a Limited Anthology Series or Movie, a category which boasted another four Supporting Actress nominations for the series.
Other key highlights for FOXTEL’s Emmy-nominated series include:
- Dark comedy Barry received 14 nominations including Most Outstanding Comedy Series, with lead actor Bill Hader receiving multiple nominations including Outstanding Lead Actor in a Comedy Series, Outstanding Writing and Directing for Barry and Outstanding Guest Actor in a Comedy Series for Curb Your Enthusiasm.
- Break out hit series Euphoria received 16 nominations including Outstanding Drama Series, and Outstanding Lead Actress for Zendaya who also received two other nominations for Outstanding Original Music and Lyrics for Euphoria.
- Australian actress Toni Collette received a nomination for Outstanding Lead Actress in a Limited or Anthology Series or Movie for her role as Kathleen Peterson in crime series The Staircase.
- Curb Your Enthusiasm received a nomination for Most Outstanding Comedy Series.
- Kaley Cuoco received a nomination for Outstanding Lead Actress in The Flight Attendant.
- Long-running comedy Saturday Night Live scored 9 nominations.
- Oscar Isaac received his first Emmy nomination for Lead Actor in a Limited or Anthology Series
- or Movie for Scenes From A Marriage.
- Impeachment: American Crime Story received 5 nominations.
- Culinary competition series Top Chef received 5 nominations, including Outstanding Host for a Reality or Competition Program for Padma Lakshmi.
- HBO docuseries 100 Foot Wave received a nomination for Outstanding Documentary or Nonfiction Series and Outstanding Cinematography For A Nonfiction Program
