Liam Paro (27 wins / 1 loss) will be looking to become just the second Australian born boxer to win world titles in two weight divisions when he squares off with Northern Ireland’s Lewis Crocker (22 wins / 0 losses) for the IBF super-welterweight title at Pat Rafter Arena, Brisbane, tomorrow night.
Supporting this history-making world title showdown will be a clash between NRL heavyweights Nelson Asofa Solomona (2 win, 0 losses) and George Burgess (Pro-Debut), while Australian heavyweights Dempsey McKean (24 wins, 2 losses) and Liam Talivaa (8 wins, 2 losses) will battle it out for the IBF Pan Pacific Title.

Liam Paro enters the ring tomorrow night with the chance to join Jeff Fenech as the only Australian boxer to win world titles in two weight divisions.
Fenech, “The Marrickville Mauler”, famously won the WBC Super Bantamweight title in 1987 before claiming the WBC Featherweight title a year later against Puerto Rican challenger Victor Callejas.
Nearly four decades later, Liam Paro has the chance to add the IBF super-welterweight title to the IBF super lightweight title and join Fenech on the pantheon of Australian boxing.
“It’s humbling to be even mentioned alongside someone like Jeff Fenech, but my focus is purely on taking out Lewis Crocker,” Paro said.
“I’ve prepared for a war and that’s what I expect from Crocker. He is a dangerous fighter, but this is for a world title. I want him to be at his best.”
Supporting this epic world title event will be an NRL heavyweight grudge match between “Big Nasty” Nelson Asofa-Solomona and English warrior George Burgess.
There was no love lost on the field of play and that rivalry has carried over to the boxing ring.
“We have been rivals for a long time now and it’s good that we can finally settle the score once and for all,” Asofa-Solomona said.
“I feel like I’m getting better with each fight and it’s my intention to make a statement tomorrow night”.
For Burgess, tomorrow night provides an opportunity for the former NRL hardman to transition permanently into the world of boxing.
“I love the sport of boxing and have always wanted to knock out NAS, so I get to do both tomorrow night,” Burgess said.
“Nelson got lucky in his last fight and I’m going to send him into retirement once and for all.”
Rounding out tomorrow night’s card will be an all-Australian blockbuster with Demsey McKean set to square off with Liam Talivaa for the IBF Pan Pacific Heavyweight title.
