The Penguin Soars to the Top as Australians Embrace Drama Obsession

Australians' fascination with crime dramas is on full display, as the latest hit series The Penguin, featuring Academy Award® nominee Colin Farrell, soars to the top of the ratings and becomes the biggest new series on BINGE.

Recent research from Ampere Analysis reveals that Crime and Thriller shows are the most watched genre in Australia, overtaking Sci-Fi & Fantasy in 2024 and dominating the streaming landscape.*

This is great news for fans, as The Day of the Jackal, starring Academy Award® winner Eddie Redmayne, will premiere 7 November on BINGE, seeing an unrivalled and highly elusive lone assassin, meet his match in a tenacious British intelligence officer, which takes on a thrilling cat-and-mouse chase across Europe. Additionally, the dark comedy thriller Based on a True Story will be returning for a new season 21 November with all episodes dropping at once.

In 2025, we'll witness the premiere of Lockerbie: A Search for Truth, featuring Colin Firth, along with Australian actress Sarah Snook in the new Melbourne-shot series All Her Fault.
