Fox Sports was deeply saddened to learn of the passing overnight of our dear friend and colleague, Andrew Symonds. Symonds died as a result of a single car crash outside of Townsville, aged 46.
Emergency response was called to the scene but were unable to revive him.
“Andrew Symonds was one of a kind,” Fox Sports Executive Director Steve Crawley said.
“We awake to this shocking news and our deepest sympathies are with his wife Laura, two children and all of his work mates and dear friends throughout Fox Sports and the Cricket fraternity.”
Symonds has been part of the Fox Sports family for the past four years following a successful playing career across all formats of the game.
His family have requested privacy during this most difficult of times.
