The LAST MOVIE STARS is an epic six-part docuseries celebrating the enigmatic personas, incredible talent, and love story of Paul Newman and Joanne Woodward. Four-time Academy Award nominee Ethan Hawke directs the series with Academy Award-winning director, writer and producer Martin Scorsese serving as executive producer. Every episode will be available to watch on Thursday, September 1 from 12am On Demand on Foxtel.

Partners on screen and in life, the pair’s unparalleled dedication to their craft, their philanthropy, and one another is brought to life by readings of long-lost transcribed interviews with Paul, Joanne, and those closest to them – voiced by contemporary actors including Karen Allen, George Clooney, Oscar Isaac, LaTanya Richardson Jackson, Zoe Kazan, Laura Linney, Sam Rockwell, and others.

Blending footage from Woodward and Newman’s most iconic films alongside insights from industry greats, THE LAST MOVIE STARS paints an intimate portrait of an unmatched love story – and the enduring legacy of a couple forever entwined with the history of American cinema.

THE LAST MOVIE STARS is produced by Emily Wachtel and Lisa Long Adler of Nook House Productions, Ryan Hawke of Under the Influence Productions, and Adam Gibbs. Hamilton Leithauser is the composer for the original score. In addition to Scorsese, Amy Entelis, executive vice president for talent and content development for CNN Worldwide, and Courtney Sexton, senior vice president for CNN Films, are also executive producers; Mario Andretti is a co-producer.
